Presentes
Dezembro é sempre o mês mais movimentado nas lojas. As buscas pelo perfeito presente para o seu amigo oculto, para o parente que faz tempo que não vê, para a filha que finalmente vai conseguir vir passar o feriado. Presentes para as crianças, para os mais velhos e em alguns casos até para o cachorro. São diversos embrulhos, preços e ocasiões diferentes. Crianças escrevem cartas para o Papai Noel pedindo seus brinquedos favoritos e os pais correm para as lojas para comprar. Presentes precisam ser comprados, embrulhados e entregues. Afinal, eles não podem faltar no Natal.
Só que a verdade é que o maior presente da humanidade não foi embrulhado com laços, mas estava envolto em palhas. O presente não era o mais caro, mas definitivamente o mais precioso. O presente parecia delicado, mas era poderoso. O presente não foi entregue por mãos humanas, mas pelo próprio Deus.
Na manjedoura não tinha árvore de Natal, não era Dezembro e nem todos estavam de vermelho ou verde. Mas, foi a noite de Natal perfeita. A noite em que um menino nasceu e um filho nos foi dado. A noite em que o nosso Salvador deu seu primeiro suspiro neste mundo. A humanidade falha recebia a perfeição e o mundo perdido encontrava a sua esperança. Nós recebíamos o maior presente sem sequer merecermos ou pagarmos algo por ele.
Você pode comemorar o Natal como desejar, é claro que é maravilhoso reunir a família, trocar presentes e participar de uma boa ceia, mas não fique o ocupado demais com a festa e se esqueça do aniversariante. Agradeça ao invés de pedir, já recebemos o suficiente. Não fique esperando pelo Papai Noel, quando o Senhor do Universo já lhe entregou o melhor presente de todos.
“Porque um menino nos nasceu, um filho nos foi dado, e o governo está sobre os seus ombros. E ele será chamado Maravilhoso Conselheiro, Deus Poderoso, Pai Eterno, Príncipe da Paz.” Isaías 9:6
Gifts
December is always the busiest month in stores. The search for the perfect gift for your secret santa, for the distant relative, for the daughter who will finally be able to come for the holidays. Gifts for children, for the elderly, and in some cases, even for the dog. There are several different packages, prices, and occasions. Children write letters to Santa asking for their favorite toys and parents rush to stores to buy them. Gifts need to be purchased, wrapped and delivered. After all, it is Christmas!
The truth is that humanity’s greatest gift was not wrapped with bows, but was covered in straw. The gift was not the most expensive, but definitely the most precious. The gift looked fragile but was powerful. The gift was not delivered by human hands, but by God Himself.
There was no Christmas tree in the manger, it was not December, and not everyone was wearing red or green. But, it was the perfect Christmas night. The night a baby was born, and a son was given to us. The night our Savior breathed his first breath in this world. The flawed humanity received perfection, and the world that was lost found its hope. We received the greatest gift without even deserving or paying for it.
You can celebrate Christmas as you wish, of course it is wonderful to gather the family, exchange gifts and have a good supper. But don’t get too busy with the party and forget about the one who is celebrating a birthday. Give thanks instead of asking, we have received enough. Don’t wait for Santa when the Lord of the Universe has already given you the best gift ever.
